A Public Limited Company is a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 that can invite the public to subscribe to its shares and whose shares are freely transferable. It needs at least three directors and seven shareholders and follows stricter governance and disclosure rules than a private company. In return, it can raise capital at scale – including through a stock exchange listing.
